Koa Kaleopaa Remaining Patient

La Mirada (Calif.) LB Koa Kaleopaa

With offers from around the West Coast and two SEC programs, three-star linebacker Koa Kaleopaa is beginning to look at his options after taking most of the season to focus on his team. Read the latest on his recruitment here.

La Mirada (Calif.) three-star linebacker Koa Kaleopaa held off on official visits during the season but says he still pays attention to college football from a distance.

"I usually just watch the games with the schools I have offers from," Kaleopaa said. "I like to see how they play and how I would fit in."

Kaleopaa holds offers from West Coast programs like Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Utah and Washington State, and a couple are starting to stand out on his radar.

"I'm starting to talk to UCLA a little more and I was really impressed with Arizona," he said. "I don't have an offer from UCLA but I'm waiting to see what happens with their class and I saw Arizona's win over USC so that was huge."

Kaleopaa hasn't only garnered attention from west coast programs, but SEC schools Arkansas and Mississippi have also offered the six-foot-two, 250-pound La Mirada product.

"It makes me feel good that big time schools like that all the way in the south are wanting me to come play out there," he said. "A lot of big time players come out of the SEC so that's good to know."

Big players come out of the SEC, and big recruits make recruiting headlines in the SEC. After his decommitment from Clemson, No. 1 Overall prospect Robert Nkemdiche is believed to have a new favorite in Ole Miss.

Kaleopaa says he doesn't always pay attention to recruiting news but when asked if he looked into the news about Nkemdiche and if that would affect his decision, Kaleopaa said:

"I look into it a little bit. Knowing a guy of that caliber is on the same team, it would make me work that much harder."
