Eleanor Roosevelt HS CB Elijah Mitchell (Corona, CA) picked up an offer from Boise State over the summer and was scheduled to take an official visit to The Blue this weekend but says he'll have to reschedule it. The talented CB has Boise State in his top three and says that the defensive intensity this year has been "very impressive."

"I had to reschedule my official visit for January," he said. "I got a call from Coach Bhonapha a few days ago and he asked if that would be alright," he added.

"I talk to them pretty often," he stated. "I just talked to their track coach today as well. I'd like to run track and play football in college. It sounds like their track coach is going to start recruiting me too."

"I'd say Boise State, Stanford, and UCLA are my top three," said Mitchell. "Stanford and UCLA haven't offered yet, but they've been recruiting me a lot more lately."

The Broncos are top ten in the nation in most defensive categories. That hasn't gone unnoticed by Mitchell.

"Their defense is really good," he said. "I've watched a lot of their games this year. It's very impressive what they're able to do on defense. They get a good pass rush and that helps the DBs a lot."

"They're one of the winningest teams in the last ten years," said Mitchell. "They've been in the Top 25 almost every year. They have a great system, a good coaching staff, and good players."

Mitchell and his teammates struggled throughout the 2012 season as they finished with a 3-7 record. He says he expected the team to be a bit better this year, but a new head coach also needs time to put his system in place.

"Our new coach came from Summit and they won CIF last year," he said. "I thought we'd be better this year because we looked really good in pre-season practices. We had a lot of young players. I'm sure some of our guys went into the season thinking that it was a rebuilding year."

"I think I played well this season," he said. "I've been hearing that I might have made First Team All-League at DB again this year," he added.

As a senior, he had 3 INTs, 30 tackles, and 3 TDs.
