Ward Headed to Harvard

Langston Ward

Spokane (Wash.) Mead defensive end Langston Ward has made a commitment to play at Harvard…

This past weekend, Spokane (Wash.) Mead defensive end Langston Ward helped his teammates dismantle Newport 41-14 in The Opening round of the WIAA State playoffs. Ward plays defensive end and tight end, making big plays on both sides of the ball.

"Right now I am getting recruited as a defensive end," said Ward. "But wherever coaches want me, I am willing to do that for them."

Ward talked about where he would prefer to play in college.

"Right now it is defensive line," said Ward. "It's just been my passion for the last couple years and I enjoy it."

The 6'4" 230lbs prospect recently made a commitment to Harvard after finding out he had been accepted into the school as well.

"It's a weight off my shoulders, but I know it is another responsibility that I have to take up," said Ward. "I have to work hard and get ready in the offseason."

So what made Harvard the right choice?

"As far as football goes they are best in the Ivy league, and they have been consistently," said Ward. "They have a coach that has been there for a while, he's committed to the program, Tim Murphy. I really built a good relationship with my recruiting coach. It was the best option on the table, I am happy with it."
