The Cowboys outscored the Bulldogs in the second half but the game was never in doubt as Fresno State amassed nearly 300 yards of total offense before the break.
Derek Carr started the scoring with his 20th passing touchdown this season to Rashad Evans midway through the first quarter. Evans would continue the scoring with a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown five minutes later. It was his first punt return for a touchdown since his freshman season in 2008.
Victor Dean recorded his first touchdown of 2012 with a spectacular 19-yard catch and run that capped a 21-point first quarter for the ‘Dogs. After another solid Evans punt return to the Wyoming 14-yard line, Isaiah Burse scored on the next play on a reverse.
The ‘Dogs would use a 17-play, 92-yard drive chewing up 4:05 to pad their four-touchdown lead. Davante Adams, who had a game-high 11 receptions for 86 yards, scored from 11 yards out with 16 seconds left.
Fresno State scored 35 points in the first half for the third consecutive home game this season.
The Cowboys struggled immensely in the first half netting just 74 total yards with 41 coming off a Brett Smith to Robert Herron pass play. The Pokes were also 0-for-10 on third down conversions before the half.
The Pokes would play much better in the second half holding the Bulldogs to less than 100 yards of total offense. Wyoming finished with 253 yards of total offense scoring two second half touchdowns.
The Bulldogs lone score in the second half came on Thomas' pick-six in the fourth quarter.
